Series Proposals. Here is the deal. We are not concerned with content as long as it is not porn. You can have bad language, violence, nudity...whatever, just not porn. We are concerned as to whether or not the story will sell. We are somewhat concerned about the quality of art. Not style. Style is a personal opinion. Does the art tell the story? Does it flow well? That kind of thing. That is what the proposal will be judged on. If you think you got what we are looking for shoot me an email at

and we will talk. Now for what we offer. Pay close attention to this because we have the right to edit it (which I probably will) very soon. If an offer is made, what is posted here will be the conditions of the agreement. KSE will pay for the printing of 300 copies and recover the production cost plus 30% of profit (formula explained below) and the remainder if the money earned from sales will be yours. You can also opt to have a greater number of copies printed by you will be responsible for making up the difference. So if printing X number of books cost $300 and you want to have Y number of books printed and it will cost $500, you would be responsible for $200 of it. This also goes for color. We will get the cost estimate of black and white and color. We will pay the amount for black and white and you will make up the difference for color. So if it costs $300 for black and white and $400 for color, you would have to pay the $100 dollar difference for color.
In publishing a series there will be an agreement that basically says that you are still full owner of the title and you are under contract to produce X number of issues through us. We do this so that if someone has a 6 issue limited series that hits big and they get picked up by another company, they are contracted to complete those 6 issues before taking the series elsewhere. There will be a buyout option based on the what would have been the sales of all remaining issues calculated with our agreed on amounts plus a %15 fee. For example. If we agreed on the 300 copies per issue at $3.00 cover price the total sales would have been $900 per issue. If you left with 4 issues remaining the total sales would be calculated at $3600. KSEs share of the total sales would be $1640 plus 15% ($540) of total calculated sales. The amount you would need to have to buy out of your agreement would be $2180. The book will feature our company logo but you can of course have your logo on it as well. You will need to have an inside front and inside back cover as well as any extra pages you would have in the book to make it an even number of pages. Now the back cover is reserved. We have a signature design for all books. The back cover will display the cover image without any logos. So you would also need to provide us with that art. There may be other things that need to be handled so I have provided a list of other services we offer.
Logo Design: $75 Our graphic designer will design 3 logo samples for you to choose from based on your specifications. $25 per additional logo design.
Pre-Press setup: 10-15 Pages - $50 15-25 Pages - $75 26 + Pages - $100
Inking: $25 per page.
Lettering: $15 per Page.
Color: We will have to discuss this if you want color.
Script Assistance: Credited: $50 Uncredited: $75 Here is an example of what KSE get: If we print 300 copies of a book and charge $3.00 per book, that would be a total of $900 in sales. If it cost $200 to print, that would make $700 in profit. That $200 would be paid back to KSE and then 30% of $700 will go to KSE. So in this example, KSE would be paid $410 and the creator would be paid $490.
